The Polish Oil and Gas Company Libya (POGC) is to start drilling its first exploration well in the Ghadames basin next month.
This was disclosed by the company’s chairman, Marek Karabula, during talks in Tripoli with Libyan Oil Minister Abdelbari al-Arusi, according to the Libyan news agency LANA.
POGC’s parent, Polish state-owned oil company PGNiG, was awarded two concessions in the area in 2007 and was to have started exploration in 2011.
However, with the revolution it evacuated staff and is restarting operation only now.
In their meeting, according to LANA, the Karabula and Arusi sides looked into the possibilities of extending Polish oil and gas exploration in Libya.
